Day 1

So we left today for the first road trip on my 79' GS850 since getting up and running well. We caught the 9am from Swartz Bay and by luck met a couple on another 79. From there we rode like banches and made it to "Hope"....ha,ha,ha. Ok not the best milage for the first day, but alas there is a story. So...I realized somewhere around Surrey that I forgot to adjust my shocks for the extra load (my copilot as I like to call her). We pull over at an auto shop and buy a random tool that will fit the hole to adjust the shocks...and WHAMO, busted shock. After a bit of stress my trusty co-pilot asks where the nearest weld shop was, she's so smart, being a guy I wouldn't have thought of that. The welder says "no way that's going to weld", he points us to a bike shop, and hour and.$80 later we are on the road. A big thanks to Dave at Super Sports Motorcycle Works, saved the day. I think in my head lets go the back road through Mission…mistake. The ferry stopped working 3 months earlier and we have to back track to the bridge and wind up all the way back in Pit Meadows, so the road from there to Mission can be described in one word….sucked. Once we were past Mission it was smooth sailing but since this is my co-pilots first trip her rear end was killing her by the end of the day so Hope it is. We walked around town and decided to hit the Fraser tomorrow. We’ll see how far that gets up, lol.
